If I thought the Gallery was the best night of my life, then i was wrong. Sure, it was awesome, and i loved it. My big sister Jessica made that night one of the best i have ever had with her.
But last night was the bomb.
I waited at a park nearby club 705, where the finals for the battle of the bands were held. I was excited, and Ricki and i couldn't wait to see Stacie and everyone else. We messed around for a bit, trying to make the time pass. Ricki's dad was watching us nearby, so we waited. I pulled out my camera and filmed an opening for my YouTube channel, and made a couple of clips.
and then they came. Ricki introduced me to Nino, Jenny, Kira, and James. I already knew Spidey, who came with them. Jenny, who is the Mom of SST Street Ninjas (the band support group for The Random Ninjas, the band i went to see) made the real, slightly formal introductions. Then Stacie and Paige arrived, and we hung out in the park for awhile. Amber came after awhile, and we continued to wait it out in the little park nearby Club 705. I got to know everyone a little better, but i felt a little nervous around all the new people. Luckily, Ricki was there to make sure that i came out of my shell

We ran across the street to the club when Nino, who is Jenny's man and one of the leaders of SST, told us that The Random Ninjas had been moved up and would play in a few minutes. we scrambled to get in the short line and pay our cover charge to get our wristbands, so that we could get in and see our band. There were several bands on for the Finals, and we had to wait for the band that was on to finish, so we sat down on a long couch in the lounge and waited some more. I met Fullmetal Ninja, the awesome guitarist, and Suzanna, the singer, who had the voice of a rock godess. The band that was playing was Primal, a band from San Deigo that brought all of their fans. it was standing room only while they were on, but they weren't that great. they were good, but they lacked in something that i can't put my finger on.
Finally, Primal's set was over! We all got up and made our way to the stage and bar area, which was starting to get less crowded because of Primal's finish. we stood in front of the stage as The Random Ninjas set up. Jenny pointed out all the band members for me: Yusuke on the Taiko drums, Suzanna on the mic, Fullmetal on guitar, Ninja on the regular drums, and on base. I pulled out my camera, and got ready for the set.
Before this i had only heard their songs on MySpace and Veoh, and i had loved them. I thought that it couldn't get any better, and chose a few favorites.
But i was wrong. they were INCREDIBLE live. The music was so powerful it almost blew me away as i headbanged and screamed along with everyone else, trying to hold my camera still so i could have some good clips for my channel. Soon i found it near impossible and gave up after two songs, and took a few pics before putting it away. They played "Tomorrow" and "Madness", two of my favorite songs. We bowed down to Fullmetal when he played his excellent solos, falling on our knees in a big group while everyone else in the club watched us. pretty soon a good sized crowd had gathered near the stage where we were. I was almost positive that the Ninjas would win first place in the compotition; they rocked that much with just a few songs!
And then came "Gravity"
They played it so hard it shook the club, and earned cheers from the bar. I could almost feel it in my bones, and i screamed when they screamed, and headbanged so hard that i can hardly keep my head up at this moment. My voice gave out when we left the club hours and hours later, raw from yelling and shouting. It was a show stopper and something that i will never forget. i can still hear it if i close my eyes and can still see the band and SST bathed in the colored lights, rocking out as hard as they could.
The Random Ninjas ended with "Yellow Number 5" another one of my favorites. and after that we left back to the lounge to hang out and see the band. I met Jack and Kenny, two other members of SST. I forked over ten bucks for a Random Ninjas shirt, and changed in the bathroom. Ricki and i got drinks from the bar, but didn't tip the bartender because he was a jerk. Becuase we know the Ninjas they gave us free passes so we could go outside the club to get food (At club 705 you can't go outside and come back in unless you buy another wristband again >< ) we hadn't eaten since three, and it was past ten. We walked down the street to Mc Donalds and ate, then came back to the club.
We waited a long time for the results to come out, but one poking war, a nap, and two drinks later we had them: The Random Ninjas had lost! we were all pissed off becuase they (the judges) only gave the top four instead of the top eight that was promiced. But on the brightside, Yosuke and Ninja were reconized by a few guitar center reps, and were given the chance to enter the drum off.
To end an awesome night we left the club and went back to the park across the street, so that Jenny, Nino and Spidey could film the closing video of the night. They pulled me into the view of the camera, and interviewed me as a new member of the group. They gave me my Ninja name, and called me "The Goldie Shinobi" i accepted my name with a happy grin, knowing that it was short for Goldfish because of my short memory and attention span and also because of my blond hair. I felt accepted at last, and knew that i had a new family to hang with.
Now i'm spreading the word in Norwalk and Downey, looking for more followers. the more fans we get, the better support. So if you are reading this blog/journal you probably already know me. So take some advice from your friend, and give The Random Ninjas a try!
after all, we all need a little RANDOM in our lives, right?
forever yours,
Rachael Serenity (The Goldie Shinobi)
